This event was held on April 1, 2024 to honor the J.W. Vines Medical Society for their efforts to increase the diversity of students entering the medical and health sciences professions, along with their contributions that paved the way for the medical school’s community-based mission.

It will feature a panel discussion moderated by Denise Martinez, M.D., associate dean of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, UCR School of Medicine) and the following participants:

• Ernest Levister, Jr., M.D. (J.W. Vines Medical Society)
• Ancel Rogers, M.D. (J.W. Vines Medical Society)
• Thomas Haider, M.D. (Philanthropist, member of the UCR Board of Trustees and School of Medicine Board of Advisors)
• Craig Byus, Ph.D (Professor of Biomedical Sciences and Biochemistry, Emeritus; Former Dean and Program Director for Division of Biomedical Sciences)
• Neal Schiller, Ph.D. (Distinguished Teaching Professor, Emeritus; Former Senior Associate Dean and Chair in Biomedical Sciences)
• Teresa Cofield (Director of Pathway Programs, UCR School of Medicine)
• Michael Nduati, MD (Graduate of the Thomas Haider Program)
