Presentation Title: “What is Our Body’s Natural Cannabis? A Tour of Cannabinoid Research at UCR”

-Cannabis is being legalized for recreational and medicinal purposes across the country.
-Recent scientific experiments reveal that chemicals in cannabis hijack and activate our body’s natural endocannabinoid system.
-The endocannabinoid system, located throughout all organs in our body, controls almost every biological function.
-We will explore cutting-edge experiments conducted at UCR that describe roles for this system in health and disease, and the impact that cannabis use has on these processes.

Presentation Title: “Targeted anti-cancer treatments from academic research”.

In recent years, an increasing number of novel and more effective anti-cancer treatments are emerging. At the basis of this positive trajectory, targeted and innovative drug discovery approaches are being pioneered in academic laboratories, while biotech and pharma companies capitalize on and leverage these discoveries to generate new treatments. We will survey recent oncology-targeting strategies proposed at UCR that may guide the development of innovative anti-cancer treatments.
