Streets of Rage Remake was an independently produced project that combined all 3 Sega Genesis games into one upgraded adventure. It was officially released in 2011, and then shutdown by Sega shortly thereafter. Here is a look at that game, and why you need to play it.

Episode Notes:

1. Captured on my PC running Windows 10 and using an Xbox One controller. You can play it in 320x240 mode, or 640x480.

2. Despite my PC being pretty hefty(i7 6700, 32GB RAM, Geforce 1070) I did notice some stutters here and there. Nothing that ruined the gameplay, but odd for such a lightweight game.

3. Despite Sega going after the project and shutting it down 8 years ago, you can still easily find it and its soundtrack. Google is your friend.

4. The only additions to this project I disliked are the vehicle stages. The jetski and bike stages do not play well IMO, and the combat involved is grueling to get through.

5. The soundtrack has multiple remixes available I recommend looking into. It's all good stuff.

6. This would make an absolutely fantastic Sega Ages release.

8. The star upgrade system is from Streets of Rage 3. It's expanded here to include all the additional characters, and is easier to get. Some people never saw a full 3 stars in the western version of 3 because of the games difficulty. You can also unlock a cheat that gives you 3 stars for the entire length of the game.
