Judges at the Court of Appeal upheld the whole life term handed to former Metropolitan Police officer Wayne Couzens for the murder of Sarah Everard.

But double murder Ian Stewart had his whole life order replaced with a minimum term of 35 years, while child killer Jordan Monaghan had his minimum term increased from 40 to 48 years.

Meanwhile, Thomas Hughes has his 21-year sentence for the manslaughter of Arthur Labinjo-Hughes increased to 24 years after judges agreed with submissions from the Attorney General that the original term had been unduly lenient.

But they refused a similar submission relating to his partner, Emma Tustin, who also lost a bid to appeal her 29-year minimum term for the murder of the six-year-old.

Lord Burnett, the Lord Chief Justice, handed down the judgment of a special five-member constitution of the Court of Appeal at the Royal Courts of Justice in central London following an earlier hearing in May.
