With heat-related illnesses increasing among workers and delays in implementing federal heat standards, healthcare providers play a critical role in raising awareness, diagnosis, and treatment to improve patient outcomes.

Speaker:
Luckshman Coomaralingam MD, MPH, MS, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Environmental Medicine and Climate Science at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is board-certified in Occupational Medicine and works in the Mount Sinai Selikoff Centers for Occupational Health. Dr. Coomaralingam sees patients as part of the World Trade Center Health Program and is involved with both the annual monitoring and treatment sides of the program. Dr. Coomaralingam is registered with the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board and also evaluates patients who have suffered from work-related injuries and illnesses.
