Diocese of Antwerp presents Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, zooming in on the themes of (Biblical) wisdom and science. Zooming in on the wise measures of the atomic bomb and juxtaposing them with crimes against humanity, the epic thriller portrays the brilliant scientist and later director of the Manhattan Project Oppenheimer, both brilliant and tormented, drawing parallels between Biblical stories from Genesis and Exodus. These include the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, as a source of divine capacity. Can we as humans handle that, the central question then remains?
