Messiah

Diocese of Antwerp presents 'Messiah'. A theme that Bart Paepen deliberately tackles during this Easter season on the basis of two films: Avatar: The Last Airbender and Dune. The live action sequence of that first film centres on the character Aang, who unites insights from Buddhism and Hinduism. Avatars are deities assumed by the characters. In Frank Herbert's Dune, Paul Atreides or still The chosen one takes centre stage or Lisan al Gaib on the planet Arrakis. The story in turn touches on Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Messiah, anointed one or saviour especially hits on this and is a common thread. Why is there so much focus on hero-saviors in our society who fight against the forces of evil and save the world?
