Wildhorn is a majestic mountain located between Bern and Valais, with an altitude of 3,250 meters, making it the highest peak in the western Bernese Alps. This summit is part of a vast glacial massif that stretches about 10 km between the Sanetsch and Rawil passes. Wildhorn is one of the four main mountain ranges of the Bernese Alps, alongside the Muverans, the Diablerets, and the Wildstrubel.

The Wildhorn massif is positioned between the valleys of Sarine, Simme (both in the canton of Bern), and Rhone (Valais). It includes several distinct peaks such as Arpelistock, Sérac, and Geltenhorn. Its main ridge is bounded by the Tungel and Wildhorn glaciers. Significant are also the surrounding mountain lakes, like Lauenensee and Iffigsee.

Geographically, Wildhorn is situated halfway between Gstaad, Sion, and Lenk, with its highest point accessible from the Pas de Maimbré station. The nearest localities include Lauenen, Anzère, and Gsteig bei Gstaad. The region is characterized by varied climate, with cooler and more humid northern slopes and drier and warmer southern slopes. Vineyards abound on the Valais side, while the Bern side is dominated by alpine pastures.
