Sewing Vlog: Self-drafted Midi Skirt

Описание к видео Sewing Vlog: Self-drafted Midi Skirt

I've been wanting to make a skirt like this for so long! So I finally decided to give it a go and self-draft one. It's such an easy project made completely from rectangles. All you need is around 1.5m of fabric, some 2.5cm wide elastic for the waistband, and an hour or two to sew it up. I really hope you enjoy this casual tutorial.

Dimensions of skirt:
For reference, I am 5 foot 4 inches and have a 25 inch waist.
Drafting to include 1cm seam allowance.

You will need to cut 2 top skirt panels. These should be the same width as your waist circumference and long enough to fall just below your hip. Mine were 25 inches/ 63.5cm wide by 25cm long.

Next you will cut your two lower tiers. These should be double the width of the upper tier (or more if you would like to increase the gathers) and the length will depend on how long you want the skirt to be overall. Mine were 140cm wide and roughly 52 cm long.

Lastly you will need to cut two thin rectangles to make the waist ties. Again this depends on how long you want them. Mine were 4 cm wide and around 45 cm long.

What I'm wearing:
