This video is part of infoWERK`s North Atlantic High Level airspace (NAT HLA) e-learninig course. Pilots may fly within this airspace only if they are in possession of the appropriate NAT HLA and RVSM Approvals issued by the State of Registry of the aircraft or by the State of the Operator. The most important topics of the full training are: North Atlantic RVSM requirements, Organised Track System (OTS), Other Routes in the NAT airspace, Flight planning requirements, ATC clearances, Communication, Mach Number Technique, Cross check of aircraft systems, Procedures in the event of system failures, Special Procedures for inflight contingencies, Strategic Lateral Offset Procedure (SLOP), Data Link Communications, Performance Based Communication and Surveillance (PBCS)
Weather and Terrain.

The present video explains that the airspace of the North Atlantic is the busiest Oceanic airspace in the world. As direct controller pilot Communications (DCPC) and ATS surveillance are unavailable in this space, the highest standards of horizontal and vertical navigation performance and accuracy and operating discipline are required.
