Double Trouble Gridwork! (Roger & Casper) | Helmet Cam

I started off today's lesson on Roger, who was very keen to get down to the school! We warmed up and did a bit of leg yielding, which he did very nicely, then after warming up over a couple of cross poles & uprights, we did a bit of gridwork. Rodge did pretty well, although he felt a bit tired and strung out in his canter coming into some of the jumps, which was frustrating because usually he can shorten his canter beautifully, but he's had a busy couple of weeks and had done an identical lesson in the morning, so we'll let him off! Towards the end of the lesson I got swapped onto little Casper as his rider was struggling with him a bit and he was starting to take advantage, then she found the gridwork a bit of a challenge on him, so the instructor let her have a go on Roger and I got to take Casper through the grid a couple of times. Casper had also done the same lesson in the morning and felt very tired - I don't think he's used to doing more than one lesson a day, let alone one as physically and mentally demanding as gridwork, so to do it twice in one day was a big ask! We put the grid down a little bit and let him go into it at a trot so he wouldn't lose any confidence - I've got no idea if Casper had even seen a grid before until today! Despite feeling tired, he was still very honest and apparently he had behaved very well in the morning lesson, so I'm glad he's taken gridwork in his stride :-)
