Stephanie Heller - Holocaust Survivor Testimony

Stephanie and her twin sister Annetta were born in 1924 in Prague, Czechoslovakia, a country that was occupied by Nazi Germany in 1938.

In 1941 their parents and little sister were deported to Lodz Ghetto. Stephanie, aged 18, married her boyfriend, Egon, and soon they were all deported to Theresienstadt camp in Czechoslovakia. In 1943 they were sent to Auschwitz, where the twins were chosen by Dr Josef Mengele to be part of his medical experiments. However, the twins were evacuated on a death march before they could be subjected to medical experimentation.

The twins survived but Egon, their parents and their little sister were murdered.
