This is video #036 in my Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time playthrough. Link starts out by returning to Dampé's grave. Why? For completing Dampé's race in one minute or less, Link will obtain Piece of Heart #20! To complete this challenge, it is important to avoid Dampé's fireballs as much as possible. There are two or three places where you can take alternate routes. You can refer to DrgNyt's useful Dampe's Race Map (PNG) on GameFaqs to see the alternate routes. As a rule, avoid all the turns that head towards rupees. It also helps to roll forward with A as much as possible. If you wait until you have the Longshot, you can grapple to one of the torches near the exit door quickly, but it is not necessary.
Time to put that new Hookshot to use. When Link leaves the windmill, he can get up onto the fence and grapple to the blue roof to the northwest. When he talks to the man sitting up here, the man gives him Piece of Heart #21. That's a lot of Pieces of Heart in the Kakariko Village area, but I'm not complaining!
If you're in need of items, the Bazaar and the Potion Shop are now located on the northern hill in Kakariko Village. The new building that was under construction seven years ago is a Shooting Gallery, but Link needs a new projectile weapon before he can participate in this game.
At night, Link can grapple to the roof of Impa's former house in the south of town to find Gold Skulltula #45. The Hookshot makes it so easy now to kill Gold Skulltulas and collect their tokens.
The next morning, the Pocket Egg that the chicken lady gave Link hatches into a Pocket Cucco. This newborn chicken is best used to wake up Talon, who is snoring like a freight train in the central house. After waking up Talon, Link then takes the bird to the chicken lady. She trades him her brother's Cucco, a blue bird named Cojiro. However, her brother is no longer around, so Cojiro rarely crows anymore. This is part of the Biggoron's Sword quest.
At the top of the first set of stairs to the north, note the guy who begs Link to sell him the contents of a bottle. If you sell him a bottle of bugs, you'll get 50 rupees per bottle. This is a quick way to make money. Bugs can be found under the rock between the House of Skulltula and the stairs leading to Impa's house.
Next, Link heads up the Death Mountain Trail. Things have changed a little bit, and there are now huge boulders rolling down the mountain path. Fortunately, they follow a fixed route, and they are easy to avoid. The Red Tektites are also fairly easy to kill now.
Outside the entry to Dodongo's Cavern, the magic beans that Link planted as a child have matured into another floating plant. Link can ride it up to the shelf above the cavern entrance to get Piece of Heart #22. Just be careful of the boulders.
At the gate of Goron City, Link can play the Song of Storms in the circle of rocks to create a cavern hole. A chest down here contains 200 rupees!
Up in Goron City, see that big platform supported by ropes? Gold Skulltula #46 now appears on the back of this platform. It is easier to kill it with the Longshot, but it is doable with the Hookshot.
Afterwards, it's time to go back down the mountain.
Thanks for watching!
