"Where are you going, Thomas?-The Journey of a Korean War Orphan" (documentary)

Thomas's life journey, a mixed-race child born between a U.S. military father and a Korean mother during the Korean War. Thomas grew up with his mother when his father returned to the United States and was abandoned by the market at the age of five or six. After being mixed with a group of beggars, he is caught by an American missionary and sent to an orphanage, and then adopted into an unfamiliar American family. It calmly tells the process of living with the Clement family, who had three children, overcoming sadness as an adoptee and mixed-race child, and proudly becoming a medical device inventor. He says, "People who live similarly peaceful every day will not have much to remember because that day is the same day, but if I have to live with the thought that today is my last day at a young age, that day will be clearly remembered."
He has been visiting North Korea for many years, delivering medical devices and medical technology, and is currently working as a mentor to American adoptees and practicing life of sharing.

한국전쟁 당시 미군 아버지와 한국인 어머니 사이에 태어난 혼혈아 토마스의 인생 여정. 토마스는 아버지가 미국으로 돌아가고 나자 어머니 밑에서 자라다가 대여섯 살 나이에 시장에 버려진다. 거지 아이들 무리에 섞여 지내다가 미국인 선교사 눈에 띄어 고아원에 보내지고, 그 후 낯선 미국 가정으로 입양된다. 세 명의 자녀가 있던 클레멘트 가족과 함께 살면서 입양아이자 혼혈아로서의 슬픔을 극복하고 당당히 의료기기 발명가로 자리잡기까지의 과정을 담담히 들려준다. 그는 "매일 매일이 비슷하게 평온하게 사는 사람은 그 날이 그날 같아서 별로 기억할 게 없겠지만, 어린 나이에도 오늘이 나의 마지막 날이겠다는 생각을 하고 살아야 한다면 그날은 뚜렷이 기억되게 마련"이라고 말한다.
그는 여러 해 동안 북한을 방문하면서 의료기기와 의료 기술을 전하는 일을 해왔으며, 현재 미국의 입양아들의 멘토로도 활동하며 나눔의 삶을 실천하고 있다.
