Wilwood Brake Calipers | Fixed Caliper VS Floating Caliper

When it comes to deciding between floating and fixed calipers, there are variables that need to be considered.

Floating calipers do a great job of counteracting fluid pressure on the back side of the piston, but they also displace twice as much volume and your pedal will have to travel a little farther.

Fixed calipers don’t slide from side to side, and they have an equal amount of force from the inside and outside pistons clamping down on the rotor. Since the pistons don’t have to travel as far, you won’t have to move the pedal as much. This is great for performance vehicles.
