I'm not sure if it is a glitch but when upgrading annually to Sketchup's latest version, I have come across an issue where the thumbnails for my 3D components only shows up as an icon and no longer the thumbnail preview. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling, repairing, reinstalling old versions, etc... This is the only thing that has worked for me. I'm not a tech guy, so not sure if I can answer any of your questions, but there is no other video on YouTube or help available online that has worked for me. I sort of stumbled on this fix. Hope it helps!
