Tanvir Islam Jibon from Chakoria won the title and runner up Shah Jalal from Kumilla
Dhaka, 25 April, 2018: The 109th edition of Jabbarer Boli Khela, a traditional wrestling competition of Chattogram region, has been held in association with Banglalink, one of the leading digital service providers in Bangladesh. Md. Iqbal Bahar, BPM, PPM, Police Commissioner, Chattogram Metropolitan Police inaugurated the event organized at Laldidhi Maydan, Chattogram. A. J. M. Nasir Uddin, Honorable Mayor, Chattogram City Corporation, and Soumen Mitra, Regional Director, Banglalink participated in the event as the Chief Guest and the Special Guest respectively.
Along with providing quality digital services to customers in Chattogram through its stronger network with doubled capacity, Banglalink associated with Jabbarer Boli Khela this year with a view to doubling its grandeur and excitement. Thousands of people arrived to experience the fascinating competition and the three-day-long Baisakhi Mela. Tanvir Islam Jibon from Chakoria won the title finally exhibiting breathtaking skills and stamina. He was awarded 20,000tk (twenty thousand) as the prize money and runners up has been awarded 15,000 tk (fifteen thousand) as the prize money.
A. J. M. Nasir Uddin, Honorable Mayor, Chattogram City Corporation said, "Many of our cultural heritages have become extinct because of the modernization of our society. Under these circumstances, Jabbarer Boli Khela carries enormous value. The way Banglalink has supported this event is really praiseworthy. This kind of assistance from renowned corporations can play a vital role in upholding indigenous cultures."
Shaokat Anwar Badal, General Secretary, Abdul Jabbar Smriti Kusti Protijogita said, " Jabbarer Boli Khela is an invaluable cultural heritage of Chattogram. This competition did not perish with time; rather its popularity has grown over the years. We must work together to preserve the tradition of this competition. I would like to thank Banglalink for cooperating with us. Their contribution has added a new dimension to this year's event.
Soumen Mitra, Regional Director, Banglalink said, "Our role is not only confined to providing quality digital services. Along with providing digital services, we want to play an important role in preserving and promoting our indigenous culture. For this reason, Banglalink is supporting Jabbarer Boli Khela. We played a role in upholding this traditional competition in the past as well."
Banglalink has become a part of Jabbarer Boli Khela for the 9th time, and aims at taking more initiatives to spread its cultural glory in future as well.
