We show that the local flows of two vector fields commute if and only if the Lie bracket of the vector fields vanishes.

As a consequence, we obtain a rectification theorem for k vector fields in a neighborhood of a point p if the vector fields commute and the k tangent vectors at p defined by the vector fields are linearly independent.

Finally, we see that the Lie derivative is covariant.
