Review and Smoking a Pall Mall White Cigarette from Mexico, which contains 8mg Tar, 0.6mg Nicotine, and 9mg Carbon Monoxide, making it more of a light cigarette than not when compared to others there. Sadly, finding information about when this specific variety was first introduced into the Mexican Market was impossible for me, and so as such, I don’t know anything about the history of this variety, but I do know what the history of PM, as a brand, is.
Pall Mall was originally introduced in 1899 in England as a premium cigarette brand, and shortly thereafter, the nameplate was purchased by the American Tobacco Company in 1907, who held onto it for the next 87 years or so. During AT's ownership, the brand experienced the height of its popularity in America during the early 1960's, and still to this day, it is more popular than not in the States, but it is certainly not what it used to be.
These days, within the US, PM is a budget brand produced by RJ Reynolds, and outside of the USA, it is made by British American Tobacco, including in Mexico, where it is a much bigger brand than not, and, if I had to hazard a guess, is probably the second most smoked brand there, due to their low price and wide variety of selection.
