The Greatest Chemex Recipe for April Coffee | Coffee with April

This week, we're taking a classic brew method, that in all honesty we very rarely use ourselves, and optimising a recipe to best fit our own coffee.

The Chemex brewer is certainly legendary; from its invention in the 1940s through to its inclusion in MoMA, and of course the famous cameo in the hit American TV series Friends.

Whilst the Chemex is an unrivalled legend of coffee brewing, here at April we very rarely reach for it when brewing. In this video, we explain some of the features that make it unique. We explore what you can expect when brewing with a Chemex, as well as suggesting a recipe we find works particularly well when pairing the Chemex and April coffee together.

You can replicate the recipe featured in this video by using the following guidelines:

30g - 500g
96°C Water
100g Pour - 0:00 - 0:10
200g Circle Pour - 0:30 - 0:50
200g Center Pour - 0:50 - 1:10
Total Brew Time - 4:00

We used a Commandante grinder, on a medium grind setting for this brew. We suggest a grind range on Commandante set between 28-31 clicks.
