🎬 On this trip, we explore the Animas Forks ghost town and dive deep into an old Colorado gold mine during our visit to Silverton, a historic mountain town in southwest Colorado.

(We made the trip to Silverton from Ouray where we stayed - the drive across the Million Dollar Highway between Ouray and Silverton is an experience in itself!!)

🚗 First Stop: Animas Forks Ghost Town
Step back in time to the 1800s as we wander through this charming Colorado ghost town, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Silverton's alpine scenery.
⋙ Location: about 12 miles/1 hour from Silverton. Pet-friendly.
⋙ The road from Silverton to Animas Forks is an unimproved dirt road. The last few miles can get a little bumpy and rough - high-clearance 4WD is recommended for access.

Get ready to strike gold! We embark on an underground tour of the Old Hundred Gold Mine in Silverton where we learn about the life of miners and see the original mining equipment in action. This immersive experience left us with a newfound appreciation for the hard-working pioneers of the Gold Rush era. (We HIGHLY recommend this Silverton mining tour if you're in the area!)
⋙ Location: 5 miles (13 minutes) from Silverton. Easy access on a dirt road.
