Korindo Aikido - Narita Shinjuro Sensei teaches batto. (rare footage from 1994)

In our last video about batto (sword drawing) we showed the basic 5 forms as fixed "kata" or "form" as basic reference for training. Korindo Aikido on the other hand does not emphasize rigid forms.



Repeating kata is just a way to learn the basic movements and get the body used to the principle of round movement. It is more like repeating to write the alphabet over and over again, to learn how to write. But that is of course far away from writing a novel.



In this video you can watch Narita sensei teaching the 5 basic forms and get some impression about his outstanding ability of the sword and what we call "en-batto" which means free sword drawing based on basic principle of Korindo Aikido "koshi mawari".

 
The video has been made in 1994 in our dojo in Munich. Since it is a digitalization from VHS video material, the quality is not so good. Sorry for that.
