Ep.66: Wood Preparation

Dear Friends,

Here comes the video regarding the wood preparation for oil varnish.
I explain why you need a wood preparation since we do not want the wood to be soaked with varnish and therefore made unnecessarily more heavy and this would result in less vibration as we search it for a great and open instrument sound. And I explain to you how I arrived from Liquid from Windsor and Newton, via the yellow of the egg, called Tempra, to what I am using right now. I learned it from Brigitte Brandmair, author of the book "Stradivari Varnish" which she wrote in collaboration with the German violinmaker Peter Greiner. Serious scientific research with great explanations.
What I explain here is anything else than scientific; it is my result of all this knowledge used in my daily violin workshop in Cremona Italy.
And I love my result, aesthetically and acoustically!
