If I look back to my violin making career and my violin varnish career, it seems very clear that the most important advice I can give to all of you (Musicians and makers) is:
"Get more basic information!"
Therefore I would like to explain here the main and basic difference between Spirit (alcohol) violin varnish and oil based varnish.
I think too many people talk about too many complicated issues, and they actually don't know the basics. This creates most of the time only more confusion.
