Cudlee Creek bushfire recovery - How we did it together!

How do you help 1500 properties heal the landscape after a major bushfire?

In December 2019, the Cudlee Creek bushfire swept through Kaurna and Peramangk Country in the Adelaide Hills, burning more than 23,000 hectares including many houses, sheds, vineyards, livestock and countless native animals.

Three years later, Landscapes Hills and Fleurieu has helped restore the water, soils and native vegetation on fire-affected properties. It’s been a rewarding collaboration with our landholders to stop fire-driven weeds, fence off sensitive creeks and native vegetation, improve soil health, replace paddock trees for future habitat, encourage native grasses, and share knowledge through workshops and field days.

Here’s how we did it!

This project is being delivered by the Hills and Fleurieu Landscape Board in partnership with the Department of Primary Industries and Regions. This Local Economic Recovery project is jointly funded by the South Australian and Australian Governments under the National Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
