Reporter run over by hovercraft in 1969 | RetroFocus

It was claimed in 1969 that only one person had ever been run over by a hovercraft, a Swedish cyclist who was relatively unscathed after the accident. In this report, Peter Couchman volunteers to become the first person intentionally run over by one.


Couchman filed this report on hovercraft - how they work, who can operate them, and what it feels like to glide smoothly over choppy waters - for the ABC's 'This Day Tonight.'


John Ford, a pioneer of the hovercraft industry in Australia talks about the difficulties faced trying to commercialise the craft.
