WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at BURITON (SOUTH DOWNS NATIONAL PARK) [4K]

Описание к видео WALKS IN HAMPSHIRE at BURITON (SOUTH DOWNS NATIONAL PARK) [4K]

This is another video in my series “Walks in Hampshire” accompanied by my Whippet (Logan). In this episode I visit the pretty village of Buriton & explore the surrounding countryside.

My 4.5 mile circular route starts & finishes in the village which is situated 2 miles South of Petersfield. I park my car at a free car park by the pond next to the church. After looking at St Mary's church, the Manor House, the delightful village pond & the two pubs I head off into the countryside.

I follow a path underneath a railway line & uphill through a disused limeworks (now a peaceful Nature Reserve). At the top of the Buriton Chalk Pits, I come across the first of three sculptures that I will see on my walk (part of a series of 20 that exist along the entire 50 mile route of the Spipwrights Way).

My journey then takes me uphill again, this time deep in to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park and along part of the South Downs Way before dropping down into a wooded valley. Logan takes the opportunity of having a go at the “Dog Activity Course” -something he thoroughly enjoyed.

After passing the main visitor car park to the park, I head initially East and then turn back North following well marked chalk & gravel tracks with magnificent countryside views all around.

Finally I follow the Hangers Way back to the Buriton Chalk pits and then to the village.

I have included maps of the route in the video including “close up” details showing the main “changes in Path” that are needed to keep to the circular route. A map is also shown in the related post for the walk on my Facebook page (“Dave's Countryside Walks”).

Whilst parking at Buriton is free, there are charges for the car parks in the Queen Elizabeth County park (I have added the current prices in text on screen).
