SHINY STOCKINGS | Paolo Alderighi

Описание к видео SHINY STOCKINGS | Paolo Alderighi

“Shiny Stockings” was written by arranger, composer and tenor saxophonist Frank Foster. He was in the Count Basie band from 1953-1964, and learned the ropes from Basie in terms of how to write effective, swinging arrangements. This song debuted on the 1956 album, “April in Paris,” and it’s the perfect Basie number with a relentless crescendo, building up to an explosive ending.

Basie’s reaction to “Shiny Stockings”: “You really put one down that time.”
(from an interview jazz journalist Bob Bernotas conducted with Foster)
