The speaker begins his talk by telling us how some prominent Indian scientists have supported Marxist ideas through school books and science exhibitions and how Indians have been indoctrinated in Marxist thought which permeates our education system. The speaker then reveals how the erstwhile Soviet Union was inimical to the cultivation of scientific temper and how the Marxist inquisition killed far more scientists than the Christian inquisition. He further emphasizes that both Marxism and Christianity are based on a monolithic power structure which does not accommodate scientific truths since these truths challenge the “only truth” of the concerned philosophy.

The speaker suggests an alternative to this existing pattern of teaching science in India. He tells us how we can do science in accordance with the Indian philosophical thought and thereby experience scientific discoveries which are in harmony with Indic thought. By comparing excerpts from western scientists and Indian philosophers like Swami Vivekananda, the speakers draws interesting parallels between traditional Indian knowledge systems and latest developments in modern physics. For instance, the speaker compares similar quotations of Stephen Hawking and Swami Vivekananda to show how Indic philosophy can give a vision which resonates with modern physics. The speaker says that a training in Indic knowledge systems will enable students to learn physical sciences easily and naturally and contribute to the knowledge of the scientific world by infusing a scientific vision in every child.

The overall aim of the speaker’s talk is to use the Indic knowledge systems to make our students understand the mysteries of science. The speaker informs us that the questions generated by Indic knowledge systems can push one into the right direction of science and in interaction of art, science and poetry.
