Indian Psychology: An Ayurvedic Perspective - Part 2 - P Ram Manohar -

Описание к видео Indian Psychology: An Ayurvedic Perspective - Part 2 - P Ram Manohar -

This Indic Talk shatters several common myths about Ayurveda. For instance, it is explained that Ayurveda cannot be equated with ‘medicine’ because the focus of Ayurveda is to live life to its fullness. The highlight of this talk is concerning the Ayurvedic perspective on psychology. The speaker informs us that there is no Sanskrit term for ‘psychology’ because the Indian tradition focuses on consciousness rather than the mind. The body and mind, according to Ayurveda, form one continuum thereby making it impossible to study the mind separately as attempted in the western discipline of psychology. Therefore, in the Ayurvedic tradition, the emphasis is not on the study of mind but on the distinction between Self and non-Self.
