The Wayward Sailors Ep 10: Yacht work fixing a rusty steel hull part 2

In this episode we finally start putting Humpty Dumpty back together again! It was pretty daunting cutting holes in the hull of our yacht and not knowing the first thing about how to patch her back up. We were given a lot of invaluable advice from the people around us which allowed us to slowly figure out how to do it. The method we eventually landed on was to cut out a template, trace it onto 6mm steel sheets, cut out the patches, lift them into place and get them fitting and aligned flush with the hull of Cape Petrel using wedges and chain blocks, and then tack weld the sheets in place ready for the welders to come in and do the structural welds! Cheers to all our mates who helped with the final push to get things ready for welding! The beers are on us!
