Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Dometic Penguin II high efficiency 13,500 BTU, black RV air conditioner. Now, this air conditioner unit is going to let you replace, upgrade, or add a new Dometic Penguin II air conditioner to your RV or camper. The ultra low profile design is gonna minimize wind resistance to help improve your fuel efficiency and also give you additional overhead clearance. This 13,500 BTU per hour air conditioner is going to quickly and efficiently cool down the inside of your RV or camper. Now, this is designed for motor homes, travel trailers and fifth wheels, but this has not been approved for use on school buses, food trucks, or enclosed utility trailers or off-roading vehicles for that matter because typically, the roofs aren't built with the support that's needed to handle the weight of an air conditioner system.
Or there might be too much flex in that roof that could potentially damage an air conditioner system as you're going down the road. So just so you're aware of that. Now, this is going to be a bolt-on installation, but this does not include the bolts that you need to install this. And a manual air distribution box is also going to be required with this. And you can take a look at the related product section on this product page here at etrailer.com to find that air distribution box.
So this is going to fit roofs from 1.5 inches to six inches thick with an opening size of 14 1/4 inches long by 14 1/4 inches wide. Looking at the overall length from end to end, we're sitting at about 40.5 inches long. Looking at the width here at the widest point, about 28 inches wide and the height, 11 1/4 inches tall. This weighs about 90 pounds or so. Now, I went ahead and removed the screws from the cover so I could more easily and quickly remove it to give you a view of the inside.
Four Phillips head screws holds this cover into place. And so all you have to do is, remove those screws and then that cover is gonna pop right off just that easily. So let me go ahead and just give this a quick rotation just so you can see what it looks like on the inside from all angles here. And then you can get a good view of what's going on here. But let me give you an overhead view as well.
Now, this does have a high performance motor and fan that's going to give you sufficient air flow. The enhanced cooling performance is going to evenly distribute cool air throughout your RV to help eliminate hotspots. And as you can see, we do have these foam seals here that are going to prevent heat transfer. The quiet operation's going to ensure a more peaceful atmosphere than your traditional air conditioner units. And the efficient design is gonna require less refrigerant than traditional AC units, reducing operational costs. And this does use the refrigerant R-410A. Going back to my wide view here, lemme go ahead and replace the cover. Speaking of this cover, this is a hard plastic material, so I think it's gonna hold up really well for you. Other air conditioners, other brands, rather, that I've reviewed in the past, some of those covers aren't as robust or thick as this one, but I think this is a pretty good piece of plastic that's going to do a pretty good job of protecting the internal components from water, dirt, and debris. And so it's gonna be very easy to pop this cover off if you wanted to do some maintenance, if you wanted to do some cleaning out. And then you'll just replace those four Phillips head screws along the sides here to secure it back into place. I want to give you a lower angled view and just point out that this base pan is metal, so this is going to give you that stability and help reduce vibration. We have thick foam pads at the bottom as well. That's going to be a good insulation between the air conditioner and the roof of your camper and it's gonna help protect that roof but also give it good support. This does have a wiring harness here that's tucked up in the front, so I wanted to give you a good view of that harness, that connection point. And this air conditioner is UL-certified. But I think that's gonna wrap up our quick look today. I do hope that our brief time together was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.
