Why clinical psychology? Views from a Trainee Clinical Psychologist

Описание к видео Why clinical psychology? Views from a Trainee Clinical Psychologist

So why Clinical Psychology? We're a few days away from the DClinPsy submission deadline, and I know when I was applying to the doctorate I was asking myself this question ALL THE TIME. After all, it's hyper competitive, it can take several years to get on, and there's no guarantee that you'll get a place.

Now that I am a Trainee Clinical Psychologist, I feel like my reasons for pursuing this career as opposed to other psychology-related careers paths (e.g. doctorates in Counselling/Health/Forensic psychology, Psychology PhDs or applied routes such as PWP/or High intensity CBT positions) have become even clearer.

In this video I talk about:
0:00 Introduction
1:10 Getting paid to train
4:00 Keeping doors open (no specialty required)
6:45 Very varied work opportunities
9:33 Working with complexity
11:05 Having a platform
13:19 Closing comments and outtakes

ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Miranda and I am a second year Trainee Clinical Psychologist. Every Sunday at 2pm I upload videos on psychology/mental health - some of these are serious, some of them are less serious, but they are always made with the intention of making you smile!
