Day 12 & 13 We spent a full day exploring Tainan. However we only spent a short time in Kaosiung due to the lack of historical attractions. If time is an issue, I recommend to just explore Tainan.

Here are the attractions we explored:
Tainan
Tainan, Taiwan’s oldest city, is a blend of rich history and vibrant culture. Known as the “Phoenix City,” it features well-preserved temples like the Tainan Confucius Temple and historic sites such as the Chikan Tower.

Tainan
Chiayi Train Station: This historic station in Chiayi serves as a key junction for the Taiwan Railways and the Alishan Forest Railway, featuring classic architectural design.

Tie Dao Hotel: Conveniently located near Tainan Railway Station, this hotel offers modern amenities and budget-friendly rates, making it a popular choice for travelers.

Tainan Train Station: A central transportation hub in Tainan, this station, built in 1936, is a significant stop on the Western Trunk Line and boasts a historic building.

Tainan Confucius Temple: Established in 1665, this is Taiwan's oldest Confucian temple and was the island's first official school, rich in cultural and historical significance.

Fuzhong Street: A delightful pedestrian street near the Tainan Confucius Temple, known for its traditional shops, eateries, and a relaxed, charming atmosphere.

National Museum of Taiwan Literature: Housed in a former government building, this museum highlights Taiwan's literary heritage with exhibits in multiple languages, including Taiwanese, Japanese, and Mandarin.

Chikan Tower: Originally built by the Dutch in 1653 as Fort Provintia, this historic site now features traditional Chinese architecture and is a popular tourist destination.

Guohua Street: Famous for its vibrant night market, this bustling street in Tainan offers a variety of traditional Taiwanese snacks and street food.

Wind Temple: This location appears to be a fictional place from "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" and not an actual site in Tainan.

Anping Old Street: Known as Taiwan's first street, this historic area in Anping District is filled with traditional shops, street food vendors, and cultural landmarks.

Anping Old Fort (Fort Zeelandia): A historic fort built by the Dutch in the 17th century, now a popular tourist site with exhibits on its history and significance.

Anping Tree House: An old warehouse overtaken by banyan trees, creating a unique and picturesque site, perfect for photography and exploration.

Tainan Puji Bakery: A beloved local bakery known for its traditional Taiwanese pastries and baked goods, popular among both locals and visitors.

Shennong Street in Tainan is a vibrant and historic area, known for its well-preserved traditional architecture and charming old lanes.

A-Jiang Eel Noodles: Renowned for its delicious eel noodle dishes, this famous eatery in Tainan is a must-visit for food enthusiasts.

Kaohsiung
Kaohsiung City: Taiwan's second-largest city, known for its bustling port, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural attractions, serving as a major economic and cultural hub in southern Taiwan.

Zuoying Lotus Pond: A scenic area featuring a large pond surrounded by temples, pagodas, and pavilions, making it a popular spot for both locals and tourists.

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas: Iconic twin pagodas at Lotus Pond, known for their striking dragon and tiger statues. Visitors enter through the dragon's mouth and exit through the tiger's mouth for good luck.

Spring and Autumn Pavilion: Located at Lotus Pond, these pavilions are dedicated to the Chinese god of war, Guan Yu, and feature beautiful architecture and sculptures.

Wuliting: A pavilion on Lotus Pond offering picturesque views and a peaceful atmosphere, ideal for relaxation and photography.

Zuoying Yuandi Temple: Dedicated to the Jade Emperor, this temple features traditional Chinese architecture and intricate decorations, serving as an important religious site in Kaohsiung.

Kaohsiung Museum of History, located in Yancheng District, is housed in a historic building originally constructed in 1939 as the Kaohsiung City Hall. This museum, which opened in 1998, showcases the rich history and cultural evolution of Kaohsiung.
