Om Swami says that whenever in the birth horoscope, Mangal(Mars)sits in any of these houses(lagna) -first, fourth, seventh, eighth or the twelfth, then it is said that Mangal(Mars) is accountable for the problems. He says that here the houses are being taken into account and not the signs(Rashis). It is said that a person who is manglik is strong-willed, strong-headed and quarrelsome. So, it is common to marry off one manglik to another manglik when horoscopes are matched. An astrologer who is not very knowledgeable, seeing Mars in any of these five houses will say that there is the problem of Mangal(Mars). Om Swami says that in truth, according to our main books on astrology there is nothing called manglik dosha and nor is there anything called kal sarpa dosha. These were added much later in astrology. If Mangal is your friend, then even if he sits in the first, fourth, seventh, eighth or the twelfth house, there is no problem from Mangal. In love marriages, horoscopes are not matched as it is against the rules of law(shastras). Om Swami says, It is not advisable to be too caught up in believing that because of the manglik aspects certain horoscopes did not match or matched. After all, Ram and Sita’s marriage took place after their horoscopes were matched by one of the great seven rishis Vashisht and the impeccable rishi Vishvamitra and yet they went through unimaginable problems.
