FASCIAL FITNESS.

Training to build supple and strong connective tissue. DVD 58 mi. When a soccer player is not lined up because of a hardened calf, when a tennis star stops his match prematurely because of knee problems, or when a sprinter limps across the finish line because of a torn Achilles tendon, it is usually not because of injuries to the muscles or skeleton, but because structures of the connective tissue, i.e. ligaments, tendons or joint capsules, have been damaged. For competitive athletes, it is therefore of great importance to train their fascial network in a targeted manner. If the fascial network of the firm connective tissue is intact, i.e. highly elastic, supple and resilient, then top physical performances can be called up and also guarantee a form of the body's own injury prophylaxis. This also applies to popular sports, where training is not so much for performance as for physical health. Here, the main focus has so far been on building up the musculature, cardiovascular condition or neuromuscular coordination. Only in the field of holistic movement arts such as Pilates, Tai Chi, Yoga, Continuum Movement or contemporary dance Here the importance of the connective tissue is often specifically addressed, although usually only individual aspects of the fascia are activated, such as the melting stretch during a yoga position. To build a supple yet powerful connective tissue, it is now necessary to translate the current findings and specifics of fascia into a basic training program. In this chapter, the most important principles for fascia training are explained and explained in practical application. The practical development of a specific connective tissue training program has only recently emerged from an international exchange between researchers and practitioners from different areas of movement and sports. In the following, the current state of affairs is conveyed, with the intention of encouraging physiotherapists, trainers and movement enthusiasts to try out the principles as well as the exercises based on them in their professional field of activity or to develop them further for their personal movement needs.
