Welcome to The Lecture Hall Series, celebrating its sixth year! Join us as we showcase talks by Purdue graduate students.

In this episode, we spotlight Balindile Motsa, a dedicated PhD candidate in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at #purdueuniversity. She earned her BS degree in #Biochemistry, #MolecularBiology, and #Biotechnology from Michigan State University in 2019. With a passion for scientific exploration, Balindile chose to pursue her doctoral research in the esteemed Stahelin Lab at #purdueuniversity. Her primary research area centers around unraveling the intricate mechanisms employed by the #EbolaVirus matrix protein (VP40) during the assembly and budding stages of the virus.

During her doctoral journey, Balindile has developed a keen interest in leveraging various cutting-edge biophysical techniques. These techniques include #SurfacePlasmonResonance (#SPR), #IsothermalTitrationCalorimetry (#ITC), and #Microscopy. These tools empower her to delve into viral processes at a molecular level, providing invaluable insights into virus-host interactions. In addition to her research endeavors, Balindile actively contributes to the academic community. She currently holds the role of a teaching assistant at the #PharmacyLiveCellImaging Facility. In this capacity, she imparts her expertise to train users in the intricacies of microscopy, further enriching the scientific ecosystem.

Balindile's academic journey showcases her commitment to advancing our understanding of viral biology and her dedication to fostering knowledge sharing among peers and aspiring scientists. #ScientificResearch #ViralBiology #BiophysicalTechniques #AcademicCommunity #KnowledgeSharing
