In no particular order, one of the most powerful classes in wrath of the lich king is the Paladin. Especially the PROT paladin. Compared to a prot warrior, prot paladin is like a powerdrill, and a prot warrior a screwdriver. With a screwdriver it takes a lot of effort to screw something in and it takes such a long time, but then you play a paladin and it’s just like VRRRR and boom it’s done quick and easy. They both get the job done, but one is gonna be much easier.
Wrath is definitely one of the most balanced expansions, I made a THIS IS BROKEN video about every class because each class has a spec and a time and place where it really is broken. Paladin just so happens to have the most specs, times, and places where it’s broken. With abilities like sacred shield, beacon of light, and so many other broken abilities, Paladins are decked out.
Holy Paladin tops the healing meters in PvE and is the most mana efficient. And also, just so happens to be one of the best PvP healers too. Prot paladin like we discussed earlier is really one of the best tanks – able to easily hold threat, not run out of mana, and if they take fatal damage, just come back to life automatically. It’s amazing.
Ret even has it’s time to shine in PvE being S tier in the icecrown citadel raids and beyond once they have the gear. Overall Paladin shines as one of the most overpowered classes in wrath in the most situations.
Number 2 is Death Knight. In wrath classic we’ll be getting balance patch 3.3.5 which means death knights won’t be as strong as they used to be, but they are still an exceptional class in many regards. Blood tanks which is the best tank specialization for raiding in patch 3.3.5 actually can do things that no other tank can do – and that is hold high amounts of threat from a range. Icy Touch is the most powerful single-target threat generation ability in the game, and it also happens to be a ranged ability. In raid fights where the tank needs to kite – like against professor patricide, out of goo and choking gas bombs among other situations, no other tank can hold aggro at a range as well as the death knight. Not only that, death knights have the ability to instantly reposition monsters with death grip – helpful against bosses like Algalon, where you need to drag the living constellations in the black holes. But besides having great utility, they are also just super tanky – with tons of self-heals and damage mitigation talents and abilities, death knights are excellent tanks in PvE.
When it comes to PvP death knights aren’t joking around either. They are required in many top teams – Paladin Warrior Death Knight, or Paladin Hunter Death Knight are two team comps that are gladiator tier. The Unholy Death Knight is equipped with a ghoul stun, mind freeze to interrupt spells in melee range, and a ranged silence, along with death grip to interrupt spells too, death knights have the tools to get kills in arena. Not only that, but they have great damage mitigation too – anti-magic shell, icebound fortitude, anti-magic zone, and let’s not forget their amazing snares – a ranged one called chains of ice, and the huge melee aoe one called desecration. Unholy death knights are amazing in PvP. But not just PvP because both Frost and Unholy and viable and powerful PvE specializations. With talents like Wandering Plague which makes unholy death knights MONSTERS of AOE and Ebon Plaguebringer which gives the whole raid 13% increased spell damage against targets with your diseases on them, death knights have a lot to offer a raid.
