South Passenger Terminal is the first passenger terminal built in Tehran. The South Terminal was built to facilitate the movement of buses from Tehran to the southern cities of Iran.
The South Terminal was founded in 1974 due to the growth of intercity travel and changes in the way passenger services are provided, and it was put into operation in 1979. This terminal has an area of ​​more than 17 hectares and is built on three floors. The area of ​​the ground floor is 8800 square meters and includes 20 cooperatives and passenger companies. On this floor, there is a book stall and cultural products, confectionery, snacks, and sanitary products, a mother and child room, and an aquarium. The second floor, which has an area of ​​about 4200 square meters, houses the restaurant, the terminal's computer site, and the offices of the army interpreters. The third floor of the South Terminal, with an area of ​​nearly 620 square meters, includes administrative areas, terminal management, the representative office of the Ministry of Roads, etc.
