2013 Pacific Typhoon Season Animation

The 2013 Pacific Typhoon Season would go down as one of the most infamous typhoon seasons on record, and while the first two-thirds of the season was oddly quiet, the season would be ignored further when a series of typhoons, wrapped up with Haiyan became notable for all the reasons. Haiyan would end up being the costliest typhoon for the Philippines on record, along with thousands of fatalities left behind. Ten years later, the storm is still remembered to this day, and it will remain a burning memory for far more than the next ten.

But in the end, 2013 was not just about one typhoon. Haiyan overshadowed quite a few other storms, including one of the costliest typhoons on record as a whole- Fitow, which would go on to cause $10 billion worth of damages in China.

This animation serves as a memory of the season that was- and a reminder that just because it may seem quiet, doesn't mean that will be the nature of the whole season.
