Damen delivers second OPV 2600 PNS Yamama to Pakistan Navy

The Damen Shipyards Group has successfully delivered the second Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) 2600, PNS Yamama, to the Pakistan Navy. This state-of-the-art vessel follows the earlier delivery of PNS Hunain in mid-2024, marking a significant milestone in the longstanding collaboration between Damen and Pakistan Navy.

The PNS Yamama is the final vessel in the series and showcases advanced maritime capabilities. With a displacement of 2600 tons and a length of 98 meters, it is designed for a variety of operations, including maritime security, patrol missions, and military operations other than war. The vessel is equipped to operate in challenging environments, offering exceptional resilience, flexibility, and adaptability.

The delivery ceremony took place on December 17th, 2024, at the Constanta Shipyard in Romania. This project continues Damen's successful relationship with the Pakistan Navy, which began with the construction of two Yarmook-class vessels in 2020. Vice Admiral Muhammad Faisal Abbasi highlighted the importance of this collaboration, emphasizing its impact on maritime innovation and bilateral relations.

Beyond shipbuilding, Damen has deepened its partnership with the Pakistan Navy through the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park (PMSTP). This initiative promotes innovation, research, and local industry collaboration, ensuring the development of sustainable maritime solutions. Damen is committed to establishing a local service center in Pakistan to provide maintenance and support for its vessels, fostering a robust domestic maritime industry.
