We are delighted to invite you to the Geneva Security Debate on Collisions: The Origins of the War in Ukraine and the New Global Instability. The latest book by historian and former State Department Official Michael Kimmage.

Prof Kimmage examines how Russia’s 2022 invasion, marked the end of “three of the most peaceful, most promising, most prosperous decades in European history.” In his book, the author argues that a confluence of four intersecting causes led to the shattering collisions in 2022 between Russia and Ukraine, Europe and Russia, and Russia and the United States.

The Russian invasion of Ukraine has uprooted the global order, created uncertainty and has boosted global volatility. The panel will discuss the origins of what led to the Russian aggression, and will describe the evolution of the conflict and how it has impacted Ukraine, Europe, and the global order.

Author Michael Kimmage will first present his monograph Collisions. The Origins of the War in Ukraine and the New Global Instability. The book launch will then be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Michael Kimmage and Ambassador Thomas Greminger, Director of the GCSP.
