Is MBA After CPA Worth It?

Описание к видео Is MBA After CPA Worth It?

is it worth getting an MBA after your CPA? In this video, I break down whether it's worth it. Bottom line: Many CPAs think an MBA will help with career growth, but for most, it's not worth the investment.

Here’s what to consider:
► Why are you getting it? Want to move outside of accounting into VP or operations roles? It might be worth it.
► Planning to open a business outside of accounting? It could be beneficial.
► However, for promotions or getting an edge in interviews, your CPA is usually enough. Employers focus on your work history and attitude more than additional degrees.
► Where are you getting it from? The value of an MBA heavily depends on the institution's brand recognition.
►Consider who’s paying for it. Most employers don’t cover 100% of the costs, so it might come out of your pocket.
►Stats show only 2 out of 10 top-paid CFOs in Canada have an MBA, while 7 out of 10 are CPAs. So, you can become a top-paid CFO without an MBA. Here's the link to that article (from 2010s but still relevant): https://www.theglobeandmail.com/repor...

The real benefit of an MBA might be the connections you make. However, focusing on your work experience, network, skills, personal brand, and attitude often offers a better ROI.
