Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at Etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Hidden Hitch by Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver on a 2023 Mustang Mach-E. Adding a hitch to any vehicle, even on an electrified SUV, this is a performance model, really just adds to what you can do with any vehicle and that can include a ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier. So really any adventure that you're going on, having a hitch receiver makes a big difference. And this one's kind of neat. It's got its own unique feature and that's where the name Hidden Hitch comes in play, with the twist of a knob, you can see this goes back to an OEM look and then whenever you're ready to start towing or use any of your accessories, you can just simply pop this back in place. Now taking a closer look at our 2" by 2" receiver, this is kind of a unique one as you can see, here's the handle that unlocks and locks and this ratcheting mechanism as you raise this up in place will pop this open and you know, basically get this attached up to that receiver.

Now you can also use the keys that are included with this hitch to lock this in place so that way you can leave this on here and no one's gonna be able to just walk by and take this. Another cool feature is gonna be, they include a interesting pin and clip, actually it's slotted, which is nice because once you tighten down the nut and put the cotter pin in place, it's gonna kind of act as an anti-rattle. This isn't gonna rattle around so it really cuts down on the noise and it's got a nice little groove here for your fingers to pull this out. Now all of this does come in with a blow mold injection carrying case. So that way if you're storing this, you know, having that extra piece, you may worry about where you're gonna put it, you can put it in that case and it'll be all nice and protected for whenever you need to use it.

The capacities on this aren't particularly high, but honestly this isn't a vehicle that you're really gonna be towing trailers with. So when it comes to that gross trailer weight rating, you're gonna have a 3,500 pound capacity and that's the weight of the trailer plus the accessories loaded onto it. Now for your bike racks and cargo carriers, you're gonna have a tongue weight rating of 350 pounds, which is pretty good. You should be able to get a four bike bike rack loaded up or a cargo carrier on vacation and I don't worry too much that you're gonna overload that, but you do wanna make sure you're keeping track of that and also check the vehicle's owner's manual to see what it's capable of towing before just hitting the road. Something that's interesting too is if you are planning towing that trailer, you obviously have to hook up your safety chains and there are safety chains.

Now in the instructions, they have you trim out a very small portion. I think that's mostly for people that are just using it for ball mounts or I'm sorry, bike racks and cargo carriers. But if you do plan on pulling that trailer, if you trim this out a little bit extra, you can still put a standard S hook and even a clevis hook will go onto this. But just the way the nature that it sits, I don't really like how it rubs against the fascia, so I would highly recommend maybe getting some D links and just putting those in place. That way they droop down, whenever you're ready, you can just take those quick links off whenever, but you can still attach your safety chain loops without really having any issues of it rubbing on your fascia.

Now this is also kind of interesting too because being that it's a Draw-Tite, that's something that's specific to them, is that a welded on tab that's gonna allow you to mount up wiring and with a four-pole bracket, we we inchesre able to mount that up, but you will have to trim out a decent amount to get to it and I also ended up trimming a little bit more on this side to be able to get to our handle easily. So all things considered, while this is still trimmed open quite a bit, when this is removed, you really won't be able to see it due to the nature of the low ground clearance of this car unless you're perfectly underneath it. Even then it's still pretty hidden. Some accessories will stow in a vertical position and that's really nice for going down the road. You don't have to worry about that extended length, but you wanna make sure that they have that ability. So measuring from the center of our hitch pin hole to the furthest point of our rear fascia, we're looking right at about 5". So you might wa
