How to Disconnect/Disable SWAS | Mazdaspeed 3 Gen 1/Gen 2

Описание к видео How to Disconnect/Disable SWAS | Mazdaspeed 3 Gen 1/Gen 2

In this video I show you how to disable/disconnect "SWAS" on a Mazdaspeed 3.

"SWAS" stands for Steering Wheel Angle Sensor and the ECU is always monitoring the angle of the steering wheel in realtime while operating the vehicle. The ECU can retard ignition timing and dump fuel (richens the air/fuel to mixture to about ~9.0:1) when you are under load and the steering wheel is not perfectly straight to prevent torque steer. This is done by the ECU as a means of torque reduction while at WOT (wide open throttle) to prevent torque steer. Unfortunately, it gets in the way of trying to make power and have the car pull consistently and can also cause the engine to stutter and hesitate while under full boost and wide open throttle.

The only "REAL" way to disable it is to disconnect the sensor. It's mounted underneath the steering column. Remove the 2 phillips screws mounted upside down in the steering column and disconnect the connector in the image attached. This will permanently disable the function.
