This is What Happens when Antipsychotics Get Adjusted | Life with Schizoaffective Disorder

Описание к видео This is What Happens when Antipsychotics Get Adjusted | Life with Schizoaffective Disorder

Acute side effects are side effects that happen shortly after an exposure to a chemical (like a medication) but are temporary (meaning the effects are not chronic). The main context of acute side effects in general comes from radiation therapy in cancer patients, but it can also be used to describe the temporary side effects that happen when one starts taking or adjusting a psych med.

In this video I talk about the acute side effects I experience as the result of an increase in the amount of antipsychotic I take (Zyprexa), and I even show a video of what that side effects looks like on me.

The whole reason I’m on an antipsychotic in the first place is because I have the bipolar type of schizoaffective disorder. Meaning that I experience psychosis as part of my mental illness in addition to mania and depression.

It’s fun. /s

But let this video be a reminder that while things might be awful at first with psych meds, it can—and does—get better for most. And even the most chronic of side effects can improve over time. I have anecdotal proof of that for myself.

Anyways, enjoy the vid (or whatever emotion you’d use to describe your experience with) and let me know if you too have had some weird acute side effects from psych meds!
