There are many reasons I'm PROUD to call the Alamo City home & frankly, they are mostly intangible qualities that 'outsiders' may not relate to, much less recognize. One of those qualities is our 'gente's' loyalty to their barrios & respective parts of the city; we grew up there,....we still live there,....& many of us wave the flag for the respective cultures they embody. Southeast siders, FortunesTX definitely resonate that truth with their streetwise, hood & shrewd lifestyles,...but more so, with their audacious blend of Texas hardcore. Earlier this year the band's LATEST EP, 'A New Era In Violence' crossed my desk & once again, I was captivated by the bands straightforward brutality, their dedication to the genre & of course, their message of life's struggles. I had last spoken to vocalist, Steve Rico and guitarist, Travis Cortez back in 2020, so it was about to time to reconnect & get the goods on their latest offering. SO, on May 19th, 2024 they both came to visit me at the RMW Studio to talk ALL about it.
