The 17.5 billion shillings represents 10% of the 180 billion shillings needed for the construction of the highway under the public private partnership model.
It will be the second modern and major highway to be constructed under such a deal after the Nairobi Expressway that was constructed by the China Road and Bridge Corporation.
and as Enock Sikolia reports, the upgrade will be done by a consortium led by a French infrastructure company, Vinci.
