The Latvian Warmblood is initially a riding horse that originated in Latvia and can be used for versatile tasks. The breed is bred in three different types. Among them are relatively small and strong working horses, larger and elegant but quite heavy carriage horses, and light and elegant riding horses that resemble trotters. In their motherland Latvia, Latvian Warmbloods were allround horses that had to perform well in work as well as in riding. As a result, a Latvian Warmblood is still very willing to work and has great endurance, and continues to qualify for work and as a good riding horse.
