Making Watercolor Binder | Choose the Right Gum Arabic Powder | How to Make Watercolor Binder | DIY

Here in this video, I am going to show how I make my own watercolor binder with gum arabic, glycerin and distilled water.

One of the mistakes I made in this was using the wrong gum arabic powder. I would say, another experiment gone wrong. I tried a Vegan, Food grade gum arabic powder for this video but it turned out to be super dark. Artist grade gum arabic would give you a binder solution that is lighter than honey. Be sure to look out for this, it's important that the binder doesn't affect the color of the pigment.

It did perform well while making paints, however I used it only for making earth tones and dark shades of watercolors. Hope this video helped you with the recipe and also help you avoid the mistake I made.
